West Nile Fever

Never meaning to sound callous, yet always wanting to be rational I’ve chosen to investigate the reality of our West Nile Fear.

In 2001, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported that 28,243 of the 4,430,926 residents of Colorado died. The number one cause of death in Colorado that year was cardiovascular disease, followed by malignant neoplasms. I’ve pulled this data into an easy to read and understand chart for your viewing pleasure.

So, the news reports may be working at keeping West Nile at bay, but more likely it’s effects are being blown out of proportion to keep us all in a state of fear. And this fear is driving mosquito repellant sales in an unsavory economy.

Political violence is an act of force, intimidation or abuse by a group or individual aimed at influencing, maintaining or seizing political power. The time has come to end such illegitimate violence perpetrated by our own United States government.
